Godmo Privacy Policy

Godmo, a sermon and devotion note app (the "App", covering the iPhone, iPad and Galaxy (Android) versions), does not collect personal information that identifies you. It collects only anonymous usage statistics to improve the App. The contents of your notes are never sent to the developer.
1. Information we collect
The App has no sign-up or login, and does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, location or contacts.
The iPhone and iPad version (from version 1.5.0) and the Galaxy (Android) version (from its first version) collect anonymous usage statistics. These are counts of usage events such as "created a new note", "used verse quoting" or "opened Insights". These statistics do not include text you wrote, such as note titles, note contents, preacher names or prayers. However, from iPhone and iPad version 1.8.1, while "Add to Family stats" is on in Settings (it is on by default), three values derived from your notes are also sent: the book and chapter of verses inserted with the verse quoting feature (for example, John 3); the catalog number of songs in the Ministry field that match the App's built-in song list; and the Godmo type (four letters) the App calculates from your notes. The text itself is not sent, so references you typed by hand, quoted verse text and song titles not in the list are not sent, and these values, like other statistics, are not linked to you. Turning off "Add to Family stats" in Settings stops these three values. Statistics are grouped by a random identifier created on your device. It is unrelated to your Apple ID, Google account, phone number or device identifiers, and is not linked to you.
The App may show monthly totals of these anonymous statistics in the App, showing overall trends such as the most-quoted Scripture, most-sung worship songs, the distribution of Godmo types, most-used symbols and common writing times. Totals contain nothing that identifies a user or device, and items from fewer than five devices are not shown.
2. Data storage
All notes you write are stored on your device. On iPhone and iPad, if the device is signed in to iCloud, notes are also stored in your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database) and synced to your other devices on the same Apple account. Only you can access this storage; no one else, including the developer, can read your notes. The App does not operate its own servers.
The Galaxy (Android) version stores notes only on your phone and does not sync them to the cloud.
You can export all your notes as a backup file in Settings. You save or move backup files yourself, and they are not sent to the developer. The iPhone and Galaxy versions use the same format, so backups can move between them.
3. Network communication and third parties
- iCloud sync (iPhone and iPad) — Notes sync only within your own account through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). Apple's handling of data follows Apple's policies.
- Anonymous usage statistics — The statistics in section 1 are sent to and aggregated by TelemetryDeck (TelemetryDeck GmbH, Germany), an analytics service designed not to store personally identifying information.
- The iPhone and iPad version asks Apple's App Store lookup service, with the App's bundle ID and country, whether a new version is available and whether the running version is the released one (to detect review devices). It also downloads the monthly totals above from the Godmo public site (GitHub Pages). No note contents or statistics identifiers are sent, though your IP address may reach GitHub when a file is downloaded.
- The Galaxy (Android) version uses Google Play's in-app update feature to check for new versions, and Google Play services process the App's installation information. No note contents or statistics identifiers are sent.
The App uses no advertising SDKs or tracking technologies, and provides no data to third parties other than as described above. iPhone and iPad versions before 1.5.0 send no data.
4. Deleting data
You can delete notes in the App (they stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days, then are permanently deleted). Deleting the App deletes all data stored on the device. On Galaxy, you can also delete all notes in phone Settings → Apps → Godmo → Storage → Clear data. Notes stored in iCloud (iPhone and iPad) can be deleted in iOS Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage. Anonymous usage statistics are not linked to individuals, so a specific user's records cannot be selected for deletion, and they are not personal information.
5. Children's privacy
The App does not collect personal information, and therefore does not collect children's personal information.
6. Changes to this policy
Changes to this policy will be announced on this page.
